We are confident that many of you have already made preparations to visit Goa. So you presumably know what you’re going to do once you arrive in Goa.

Those who haven’t planned but are thinking about it should certainly read this article since it will tell you all about the great activities you can do in Goa to ring in the New Year.

Excited? Here you have it:

Clubbing

Let’s start with the obvious Goa must-do….Clubbing!!

There are many nightclubs in Goa where the celebration begins after midnight and lasts till the wee morning hours. Lights of all colors flashing in various patterns, EDM and Pop music blasting from speakers, foreign DJs spinning their consoles, drinks pouring everywhere, and people dancing their hearts out is an event not to be missed.

Beach hopping

How can you go to Goa and not explore the beaches? It’s the same as having lungs and not breathing; it’s that important!

Let us inform you that Goa has a limitless number of beaches, ranging from the popular and lively ones in North Goa to the tranquil ones in South Goa. The beaches in North Goa are the most popular with tourists, while those in South Goa are unspoiled expanses of sand, devoid of commotion and noise.

Water sports

While you will undoubtedly spend your nights having fun, we urge that you spend your days trying out Goa’s water sports.

Winter is the perfect season for these high-octane hobbies that will undoubtedly liven up your life. Try kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling, or banana boat trips for a more relaxed experience. However, if you want to be truly adventurous, you should try parasailing, jet skiing, wakeboarding, knee boarding, windsurfing, water skiing, and scuba diving. The leading water sports centres in the state are Baga, Calangute, Candolim, and Dona Paula.

Dining Around the World

Aside from partying and beach hopping, Goa is a terrific spot to satisfy your craving for world flavors.

Restaurants in Goa range from fine-dining establishments in five-star hotels to informal beach shacks to quirky cafés and romantic spots with candle-lit tables. The cuisines available are similarly diverse: traditional Goan, Portuguese, Italian, American, Continental, French, Mexican, Oriental, North Indian…you name it, Goa has it!

And, seriously, every restaurant here sells cocktails, so ‘Yay!’

Cruising

Looking for a romantic getaway with a date or on the honeymoon!? A boat ride on the Mandovi River is a must-have.

There are day trips available, but for the most pleasing experience, we recommend the sunset cruise. Aboard the boat, you will be treated to vivid Goan and Konkani folk performances that will provide you with unparalleled insight into the region’s culture. There would be a selection of beverages, light appetizers, and a delectable supper to top it all off. The view of the setting sun, Goa’s coastline, and significant landmarks, as the cold air softly touches you, would be the cherry on top.

Walking around Goa’s History and Legacy

The heritage of Goa is a rich mingling of local, Portuguese, and British customs.

While Goa’s beautiful forts take you through its rich history, the different churches (several of which are UNESCO-listed) tell of its cultural vibrancy. Visit the forts at dawn or dusk for a spectacular view of the orange sun rising or setting behind the turquoise sea! When it comes to churches, it is better to go during Mass or in the evening when they are beautifully decked with lights of all colors and Christmas trees everywhere.

Seeing Turtle Hatchlings

Olive Ridley sea turtles come to Gaglibaga Beach every year between November and April to nest and lay eggs.

When the turtles get on land, they lay hundreds of eggs and bury them in the sand to protect them from predators. The eggs hatch after 45–50 days, and the turtle youngsters sprint for the sea! This is a sight you should not miss, especially if you like animals, think infants are adorable, and respect Mother Nature.

Wildlife Tours

We know what you’re thinking: “Goa wildlife tours?”

Stop thinking since several protected areas here are home to animals of different kinds and sizes. Among these are the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park and the well-known Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, and Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. A morning safari is an ideal opportunity to view diverse animals and birds in their native habitats in the winter.

Dolphin Watching

Dolphin spotting is a relaxing and enjoyable activity in Goa.

The two main species you may witness swimming, racing away, and jumping in and out of the ocean off the coast of Goa are Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins and finless porpoises. Because October through May has the highest likelihood of sightings, New Year is ideal for observing them. Palolem, Coco, Cavelossim, Sinquerim, and Morjim beaches are the most important sites to see them. Several organizations organize boat cruises in the ocean so you may observe them up close.

Aside from this, you should spend your 2022 New Year in Goa shopping at the famed flea markets, picking up unique trinkets, accessories, creative apparel, and what not?!

You now know what to do in Goa in December and January, which means you’re ready for your holiday. So, pack your bags - Goa is on!!
